Holy Hills Batman!
So I decided tonight that I wanted to try a different route on the Indian Creek Trail. Um, may not have been the smartest move. But, I'm still alive to blog about it - so maybe I'm good.
I went to the entrance at 103rd and Marty tonight. Decided I wanted to start there and head towards where I have entered in the past (119th and Quivira). BUT, the trail ends at Switzer because it's closed for trail maintenance or some stupid reason. So, I had to turn around there and go back to my start point.
I was determined to do between 15 and 18 miles tonight and going back to my starting point only put me at 7.1 - so I decided to go the other way - towards Mission. And that's where I thought I might meet my maker.
There were 3 - count them, THREE - steep climbs on that route. You wanna talk about burning legs? This is where you can get them. At least, this is where you can get them if you're not used to having to climb so much while cycling. Just for a tiny bit of comparison - last night's elevation gain was 74 feet. Tonights? 240.
240 ft. BIG difference. And I did it anyways. I just big fat told those hills to shut up.
16.4 miles in 1:23:02. Not too bad, girl. Not too bad.
And now? I'm going to reward myself with a couple of cold ones. I've cut way back on alcohol consumption because my coach says it won't make me faster - but tonight is a reward. One beer for finishing my ride last weekend - and another to celebrate my new bike.
I'm resting tomorrow - and Sunday I'm attempting the Wheeler Downtown Loop again - by myself. BRING THE WIND!
